Abstract

The use of Massively Open Online Courses (MOOCs) has been increasing in the past years. But there's still some problems that need to be solved and a lot of discussion can be done around this subject. Also, there is a lack of courses available to people who does not speak or understand English. Because of that, this project proposes a platform for Portuguese speakers tied up with gamification concepts to motivate and engage more students than the usual MOOC platforms. This approach was decided because the rate of students who accomplish courses on MOOCs are slightly below 10%. We believe in the potential and impacts of this platform, and we aim to help countries such Brazil, Angola, Mozambique and so many others that have Portuguese as primary language. The advantage of MOOCs is that they generally don't require fees nor prerequisites other than Internet access. This make MOOCs an excellent tool for countries that need to improve their educational system.
