ABSTRACT
Maskwacis Cultural College (MCC) is an Indigenous two-year college offering courses from basic literacy to university transfer programs. In 2015, the Campus Alberta Open Educational Resource (OER) Initiative made $30,000 available in funding for the development and adaptation of OER as part of its support of Indigenous colleges. The funding was used for the development of two courses, Sociology and Earth Sciences, integrating Indigenous approaches and localizing the content. The OER were chosen, mixed and remixed to experiment with, and assess new approaches to learning in an Indigenous environment.

This article discusses the benefits, challenges and potential of OER at this institution.
